After announcing the Axon 7 back in May of this year, ZTE is now looking to open up pre-orders for the device here in the US, beginning today. The ZTE Axon 7 has been seen as a direct competitor to the OnePlus 3, even though it was announced first. The main reason for this is due to the fact that the ZTE Axon 7 sports 6GB of RAM, while the only other smartphone to sport that much RAM is indeed the OnePlus 3.

The ZTE Axon 7 builds on the Axon Pro that the company launched in the US in 2015. Providing the best in-class audio experience, with two dedicated sound chips inside the Axon 7 along with enhanced software. ZTE says that users will “experience better sonic quality at lower listening levels and increased headroom to experience louder bass sounds and higher dynamic ranges.” ZTE also touts that the Axon 7 is Daydream ready, which is the new virtual reality platform that Google announced at Google I/O in May. Currently, the only smartphone available with Daydream is the Nexus 6P, and the ZTE Axon 7 is looking to be number two.

Other specs for the ZTE Axon 7 include a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset, with either 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. With a 20-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL camera on the back and a 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. All of this is powered by a 3250mAh non-removable battery (Quick Charge 3.0 is supported, and a compatible charger is included in the box), and it’s running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which is currently the latest version of Android that is available. ZTE has also included a fingerprint sensor on the back of the Axon 7, along with a USB Type-C port on the bottom for charging it. ZTE did also opt to keep the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Axon 7, while other smartphones (namely the Moto Z and Moto Z Force) have opted to go without one.

The ZTE Axon 7 is available for pre-order right now at Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, Newegg and ZTE’s own website. Currently there’s no word on when it will be shipping, but it shouldn’t be too far out.
