Huawei is the largest China-based smartphone manufacturer at the moment, and also the third largest such company in the world. Huawei had managed to sell over 100 million smartphones last year, and they’re looking to improve upon that this year. The company had already introduced a number of compelling offerings to the market, like the Honor 8 for example, but there’s still much to come from them by the end of 2016. Huawei plans to introduce the Huawei Mate 9 before the end of the year, and we were wondering what are they planning to bring to this year’s IFA. Well, if today’s rumor is to be believed, a new Huawei-branded device might be on the way to IFA, read on.
The Google Nexus 6P was manufactured by Huawei, and was introduced back in September last year. Well, a Nexus 6P look-alike has just surfaced on TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) it seems. The device looks almost identical to the Nexus 6P, aside for the fact it does not have a set of front-facing speakers, the bottom speaker is replaced by Huawei’s branding. Now, according to rumors, this is actually the Huawei Mate S2 which is expected to be announced as part of this year’s IFA in Berlin which kicks off on September 2nd. The Huawei Mate S2 is expected to ship with a Force Touch display, just like its predecessor which was not all that popular, but Huawei seems to be looking to attract consumers by recycling Nexus 6P’s design in a way.
Now, this device might look a lot like the Nexus 6P, but its specs will be vastly different it seems. The phone is rumored to ship with a 5.5-inch fullHD panel, 4GB of RAM and a 3,500mAh battery. Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core SoC running at 2.6GHz will fuel this smartphone, and a 16-megapixel shooter will be placed on its back. The 8-megapixel camera will be located up front, and the company is actually expected to introduce this handset on September 1st, a day before IFA officially kicks off. Keep in mind that these are all rumors at this point, only the image is legit as it comes from TENAA, but take all the other details with a grain of salt.
