Alleged Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime Specs And Photos Leak

According to new report originating from a Vietnamese tech blog, Samsung Electronics is preparing for the release of a new Samsung Galaxy J7 variant in the said country, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime. The source was apparently able to acquire a list of hardware specifications and several hands-on photos with the device, so without further ado let’s see what this upcoming entry in Samsung’s portfolio might have to offer.

The source claims that the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime will be equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD display boasting a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This would surpass the screen quality of both Galaxy J7 models released to date (in 2015 and 2016), whose 5.5-inch panels clock in at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Furthermore, while the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2015) was equipped with 1.5 GB of RAM, and although the 2016 model was updated to accommodate 2 GB of RAM, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime will apparently make use of 3 GB of RAM. It will also bump the on-board storage from 16 GB to 32 GB (expandable via microSD), and will accommodate a more generous 8-megapixel front-facing camera, coupled with a 13-megapixel rear-facing sensor. The Galaxy J7 Prime will reportedly be powered by an Exynos 7870 SoC (unchanged from the Galaxy J7 2016 edition) or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 system-on-chip featuring a total of eight CPU cores. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime will reportedly take advantage of a fingerprint recognition sensor embedded within the physical Home button, and will be powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow as well as a 3,300 mAh battery.

As far as the exterior design goes and judging by the images in the gallery below, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime’s 5.5-inch display appears to be covered in 2.5D glass, which gives it a more modern look and potentially a better grip. On the other hand, the chamfered edges surrounding the 2016 model’s metal frame are gone in favor of a more unibody approach, which leads to the question of whether the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime will be wrapped in a plastic or metal shell. As yet there’s no word on this front, and pricing along with availability details are missing. Still, the smartphone seems to be ready for a market release and more details could emerge through official channels sooner rather than later.
