As you all probably know, Samsung has several rather popular sub-brands out there, ranging from the entry-level / mid-range ‘Galaxy J’ and ‘Galaxy A’ series, all the way to their flagship ‘Galaxy S’ and ‘Galaxy Note’ offerings. This Korea-based tech giant has already released their two new Galaxy S flagships last month, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and two Galaxy J devices have been popping up online for quite some time now, it was just a matter of time before Samsung officially introduces those handsets. Well, that has just happened, the company has unveiled their new Galaxy J5 and J7 offerings, let’s see what they have to offer, shall we.
To make things clear, these are not the first Galaxy J5 and J7 devices, their predecessors were announced last year, these are the company’s 2016 models. That being said, the Galaxy J7 is not only larger, but also the more powerful out of the two. The Galaxy J7 features a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display, along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. This handset is fueled by an octa-core SoC clocked at 1.6GHz, though we still don’t know which chip exactly, it could be the Exynos 7870 though. The Galaxy J7 ships with LTE, NFC, while it measures 151.7 x 76 x 7.8mm, and weighs 170 grams. The smaller, Galaxy J5, comes with a 5.2-inch 720p (1280 x 720) Super AMOLED panel, 2GB of RAM and it packs in a 3,100mAh battery. It is fueled by a quad-core SoC running at 1.2GHz (Snapdragon 410?), and it measures 145.8 x 72.3 x 8.1mm, while it weighs 159 grams. Both of these phones feature a 13-megapixel snapper on the back, and a dual-LED flash next to it. The 5-megapixel front-facer is included on both of these phones as well, while the loudspeaker is placed next to the rear-facing camera. Samsung’s signature home button is also available here, and it is flanked by overview (multitasking) and back capacitive buttons. The physical power / lock key is placed on the right-hand side of both of these devices, and same can be said about the volume rocker keys which are located on left-hand side.
These two smartphones will soon be available in China, though Samsung did not reveal any details regarding their availability outside of China. Now, considering the fact that the Galaxy J3 is already available in some other regions, like the US for example, we guess that these two phones will be as well, it’s just a matter of time.
