When it comes to leakers and those who drop rumors in the mobile industry, there are some that simply end up with a better track record than others, either because of the sources they have access to, their knowledge of the market, or even sheer luck. One of the most famous examples of this is @evleaks, or Evan Blass, whose leaks are so often correct that they’ve come to be viewed as just as trustworthy as leaks from company employees making the leaked product. Another leaker approaching this prestigious success rate is Chinese leaker Kjuma, who often takes to microblogging site Weibo to post their finds. The latest from Kjuma points to a slightly smaller version of the recently announced Xiaomi Redmi Pro with tweaked specs.
The darling of Xiaomi’s budget Redmi lineup, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro is set to pack a Helio X25 processor, MediaTek’s current top of the line, along with a premium metal body and a number of other specs that earn the phone “budget flagship” pedigree. The rumored Xiaomi Redmi Pro Mini is said to keep most of the properties that make the original a powerhouse, or sub in fairly equivalent equipment. What seems to be a leaked retail poster points to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, roughly equivalent to the Helio X25. 3GB of RAM is on board in one variant, along with 32GB of storage. Variants with 4GB of RAM, as well as 64GB and 128GB of storage are also available. The 2.5D 1920 x 1080 AMOLED screen is intact, as is the premium metal body. Both have been shrunk down just a tiny bit; the screen is now 5.2 inches, as opposed to 5.5 inches on the full-size Redmi Pro. The battery is said to be a 4,000mAh unit.
The dual camera setup seen on the Redmi Pro is not on the menu here, with a single camera seen in the poster, flanked by a dual-tone LED flash unit. Aside from those quirks, the whole kit and kaboodle is remarkably similar to its larger sibling. According to the poster, the pricing for the three variants, roughly converted to USD, is $225, $255, and $285. The poster looks enough like commonly seen leaks, but, as with any leak or rumor, it should be taken with a grain of salt.
