Danish high-end consumer electronics company, Bang & Olufsen, has announced an all-new smart television two years after the launch of the BeoVision Avant. The newly-unveiled model, named the BeoVision 14, is based on Android TV and comes in two different sizes, both of which feature 4K Ultra HD panels and are compatible with Google Cast. While the base model comes with a 40-inch screen, the more premium one rocks a 55-inch display. Both are LCD panels with LED backlighting, and having Android TV means users will be able to stream content from a number of services, including Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and the like. Both models also come with anti-reflection glass that B&O claim will reduce on-screen glare by as much as 98%.
The feature list goes on quite a bit as expected, but one of the interesting optional add-ons is a motorized B&O stand that will help the TV swivel around to face the viewer depending on their seating position. The TV itself comes with some fairly interesting hardware and software features, including the company’s proprietary Automatic Picture Control sensor that monitors the light and sound levels in the room and adjusts the TV’s brightness and volume accordingly. The television also comes with a very prominent three-way custom-built speaker on the front that is design feature on its own. The speaker grill is covered by thin Oak panels to give it a unique look, but users will also be able to opt for cloth instead of wood to keep things more understated.
Nothing from Bang & Olufsen has ever been inexpensive, so you’d expect the devices to be priced at a premium, and you’d be right. The 40-inch model will start at £4,495 in the U.K., while the base version of the larger, 55-inch model has been priced at an eye-popping £6,495. However, even as Bang & Olufsen is trying its level best to deliver a premium experience with its latest offerings, some might find it a tad disappointing that neither of the models are HDR-compatible. Buyers, however, will be able to sync both these TV sets wirelessly with B&O’s BeoLink Multiroom devices, and the company is also throwing in a new version of the BeoRemote One that now comes with Bluetooth connectivity.
