The Galaxy Note 7 is all set to be unveiled at Samsung’s ‘Unpacked’ event in New York City on August 2, but a number of leaks over the past few weeks have revealed just about all there is to know about the South Korean company’s next-generation flagship phablet. According to reports doing the rounds of the media late last month, the device is likely to go on sale in the U.S. on August 19th, so naturally, most major retailers are making sure they are ready to start taking pre-orders soon after its official unveiling. Best Buy is apparently prepping for the upcoming smartphone’s grand launch as well, but the retailer may have just jumped the gun a bit by posting the Galaxy Note 7 page on its site a bit earlier than warranted.
Now whether it was a genuine mistake or was actually a calculated ploy to gain some free attention in the online media, looks like Best Buy is getting plenty of that even though the retailer now seems to have pulled down the listing, as the link doesn’t seem to be accessible any more. Fortunately, though, the phablet is expected to go on pre-order on the 3rd of August anyways, so it’s not as if buyers will have to wait too long to book it either from Best Buy or from any other retailer or carrier in the country, plenty of whom would no doubt sell the device on their sites or at their stores.
The Galaxy Note 7 is one of the most anticipated smartphones from Samsung, and with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge selling pretty well, the company will be hoping that its all-new offering will be able to carry on with the momentum going into the holiday season. Even though Samsung hasn’t said a word officially about the hardware specs of the upcoming device, plenty of leaks and rumors, as mentioned already, have given us a pretty good idea of what it will be like. The device will feature a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD (2560 x 1440) display, and have the trademark S Pen stylus with a redesigned software that promises to bring even more functionality to the device. The phone will also come with an iris scanner and have an IP68 rating, rendering it dust and waterproof up to a depth of 1.5 meters (almost 5 feet) for up to 30 minutes.
