With the Galaxy Note 7 officially launching today, some of Samsung’s current flagship smartphones are expected to be available at discounted prices in the coming weeks and months. Three of the devices that may well come with some nice discounts in the coming months include the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. And that’s exactly what might happen at T-Mobile pretty soon given that an alleged leaked memo now seems to indicate that the carrier is all set to offer a $200 rebate on at least three of Samsung’s current flagship handsets to customers who switch to the carrier from any of its rival networks. If the leaked image is anything to go by, this will be a time-limited offer that will be valid on the Galaxy S7, the Galaxy S7 Edge and the Galaxy Note 5.
While there’s no official confirmation regarding the promo just as yet, the offer is apparently set to go live tomorrow, so we shouldn’t have to wait too long to find out more. The leaked image, however, already seems to have revealed some of the key points of the upcoming deal in terms of the eligibility criterion of subscribers wanting to sign up. To be eligible for the discount, customers will have to purchase either of the three aforementioned Samsung devices on an EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) and subscribe to a high-volume data plan of at least 10GB or more. The $200 discount will be paid out by way of monthly bill credits over a period of two years. There might well be a few more caveats and fine prints, but we’ll only get a clearer idea once the ‘Un-carrier’ make this promo official tomorrow.
T-Mobile will apparently also allow users to add this offer to the Carrier Freedom promotion it had announced earlier. That particular promo allows users switching to the carrier to get $650 per line for trading in their existing smartphone in favor of new ones bought on EIP. Meanwhile, T-Mobile recently announced some attractive new schemes for its customers traveling to Brazil for the 2016 Rio Olympics, including unlimited talk, text and high-speed data at no extra charge. The carrier, of course, already offers unlimited data to its customers while roaming in over 100 destinations worldwide.
