Back in September of last year, a company named Nextbit, announced its first ever smartphone, the Nextbit Robin. What made the smartphone different from others in the market is that it is a cloud-based smartphone, meaning you can expand your storage using the cloud. After being in the market for quite a while, the company brought its smartphone to the shores of India in May of this year. However, only two color options, being Midnight and Mint were available for purchase when Nextbit launched its device in India, but that has now changed as the company has launched a limited edition Ember color for the Indian market.
The Ember edition was expected to be launched in India earlier in the month and it has finally arrived. What sets the Ember edition apart from the Midnight and Mint edition, is the bright red caps at the top and bottom of the device, while the back of the device is black. The device is available for purchase on Flipkart for Rs. 19,999 ($298). Recently, the Nextbit Robin received a price cut of Rs. 5,000 ($74) in India but that discount has since ended and it is back to its original price. However, you can purchase the device for as low as Rs. 4,999 ($74), if you trade in your current or old smartphone with Flipkart.
If you would like a refresh on the specs of this cloud-based smartphone, read on. The Nextbit Robin has a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display on the front, while on the inside, it is powered by the Snapdragon 808 processor. For storage, it comes with 32GB of internal storage, plus 100GB of storage in the cloud, along with 3GB of RAM. For optics, the device packs a 13MP rear-facing camera assisted by dual-tone LED flash and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), while the front sports a 5MP shooter. It also comes with a USB Type-C charging port which supports Quick Charge 2.0 to charge the non-removable 2680mAh battery. On the software side of things, it comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It includes support for 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and comes with a fingerprint scanner in its home button.
