Meizu Unveils YunOS-Powered U10 & U20 Handsets In China

Meizu has been quite active as far as smartphone releases go this year, ever since April. This China-based company did not introduce a single smartphone until April this year, and since then, they’re released quite a few devices, including their PRO 6 flagship, and the recently released Meizu MX6 handset. That being said, Meizu is expected to release the rumored Meizu PRO 7 flagship with a curved display on September 3rd or 13th, and while we’re waiting for that to happen, the company has opted to introduce two new smartphones in China, read on.

The company has just introduced the Meizu U10 and U20 handsets. Both of these devices sport a metallic chassis which is placed in between two glass panels. Both devices sport Meizu’s multifunctional mBack physical home key below the display, and its power / lock and volume rocker buttons are placed on the right. The SIM card tray is available on the left side of the Meizu U10 and U20, and the front side of the Meizu U10 and U20 resembles Meizu’s previous smartphones. The Meizu U10 features a 5-inch display (resolution unknown), along with 2GB / 3GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB of native storage. This phone is fueled by an octa-core SoC, and a 2,760mAh non-removable battery is also included in this package. The 13-megapixel camera is placed on the back of this smartphone, while a 5-megapixel snapper can be found on its front side. The fingerprint scanner is placed inside of the phone’s physical home button we’ve mentioned earlier.

The Meizu U20 sports a 5.5-inch fullHD panel, 2GB / 3GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB of native storage. The 3,260mAh battery comes with this device, and you’ll also get the same camera setup here as on the Meizu U10. The fingerprint scanner is available here as well, and much like the Meizu U10, this handset comes with YunOS (forked version of Android) pre-installed. Many of you probably know that Alibaba had invested quite a bit of cash in Meizu earlier this year, and YunOS is Alibaba’s OS, so you can expect to see more YunOS-powered Meizu-branded devices in the future. Both of these smartphones will be available for purchase in Black, Rose Gold and Gold color variants.

The two variants of the Meizu U10 are priced at $150 and $165, respectively, and you’ll be able to get this device through Meizu’s official store starting from September 18th. On September 19th, the phone will become available from the Meizu Mall, Jingdong Mall (JD.com), Tesco and the Lynx Official Flagship Store. The Meizu U20, on the other hand, will become available on August 28th directly from Meizu, and the next day you’ll be able to purchase it from the Meizu Mall, Jingdong Mall (JD.com) Lynx Official Flagship Store and Tesco. The two Meizu U20 variants are priced at $165 and $195, respectively.
