Moto Z Slated to Cost $900 in Canada, Coming in September

The new Lenovo Moto Z was officially announced in June and has taken its good old time arriving at carriers. In the US, you can purchase the Moto Z right now, but it looks like our Canadian brethren will have to wait until September – our source can confirm that Bell will carry the Moto Z in September, although it is a safe bet to assume that most Canadian carriers will sell the device as well. The price is a hefty $899.99 on a no-term contract. The Moto Mods are a nice addition to the Moto Z line up, the JBL speakers, a 2200mAh Power Pack that offers wireless charging, and the Instashare Portable Projector will be available.

The new Moto Z line is the first that was totally under Lenovo’s tutorage. Many were wondering what was going to happen to Moto devices, and we are happy to say that they seem to be in good hands. The prices are higher, but so is the build quality and specifications. They also come with the excellent Moto Mods, which indeed seem a step up from the LG G5 and its modular plugins. With the LG G5, you have to slide open the phone and slide in the module that snaps in place. Moto’s approach is so much cleaner and safer to use – magnetics hold them in place, helped by the protruding ring around the camera lens and the metal contacts on the bottom. There is no intrusion into the device itself, and it also gives you a way to add decorative backings that do nothing but personalize the Moto Z. Even though it is a metal phone, the extended battery Mod adds 2200mAh in power, but also opens up wireless charging through the backing.

The Moto Z comes with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display with a whopping 535 pixels-per-inch (PPI.) It sports a Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor, 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 32GB of UFS 2.0 memory that is expandable via a microSD card. The primary camera is 13MP with a f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone flash, laser autofocus, and OIS. The front-facing camera is 5MP for selfies and video chatting, while a 2600mAh battery powers the device. The Moto Z measures in at 153.3 x 75.3 x 5.2mm and weighs in at 136 grams.
