Huawei, OPPO and Vivo are China’s largest smartphone manufacturers at the moment, at least as far as Q2 2016 shipments in the country are concerned. Huawei had sold over 100 million devices last year, and they’re doing extremely well this year as well. The Huawei Mate 8 is still the company’s flagship phablet, and the Mate 9 is actually expected to land in the next couple of months. Some people thought it will launch during IFA in Berlin next month, but according to Huawei’s exec, that won’t happen. This could mean that Huawei plans to introduce the Mate S2 next month, and the Mate 9 might land in November, just like its predecessor has.
In any case, we’ve seen tons of Mate 9 leaks thus far, and yet another one just surfaced. If you take a look at the images down below, you’ll get to see the alleged Mate 9 in the flesh. The phone, once again, won’t sport any physical keys up front, if these images are to be believed. Both its power / lock and volume rocker physical keys will be placed on the right, and the phone will be made out of metal. There are two cameras placed on the back of the device, as you can see, and the fingerprint scanner is located below them. The two cutouts flanking the camera sensors are presumably the Laser Autofocus, and the LED flash (quite probably a Dual LED flash), and the phone also sports chamfered edges. Now, the device itself looks really nice, the pattern on the back is either colored metal, or some sort of a pattern made out of some other material, but it looks interesting in the provided image.
The Huawei Mate 9 is expected to ship with a 5.9-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, though a QHD variant is also a possibility. The device will be fueled by the HiSilicon Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor, while 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage will also be included here. Now, do keep in mind that a 6GB RAM variant was also mentioned, so we’ll just have to wait and see what we get. As far as the phone’s rear-facing cameras are concerned, we’re probably looking at two 12-megapixel snappers, the same ones you can find in the Huawei P9, P9 Plus and Honor 8 devices. The 8-megapixel will probably come built-in up front, and the device will either ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow or Android 7.0 Nougat, depending on when it lands.
