OtterBox Announces New Cases For Samsung's Galaxy Note 7

After weeks if not months of hype surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the smartphone was finally unveiled by Samsung at the company’s Unpacked event in New York today. The device which happens to be the first smartphone to sport Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection on its display and its back will be up for pre-order on major North American carriers such as T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint and Bell starting on August 3rd. While the Galaxy Note 7 may be protected by Gorilla Glass 5 all around its glass body, that may not be enough to protect your Galaxy Note 7 from falls and sharp objects. Luckily you don’t have to worry about damaging your Galaxy Note 7 as OtterBox has announced a full case lineup for the phone.

OtterBox was founded in 1998 and is widely known for producing durable cases for smartphones. OtterBox has three series cases of protection to ensure the Galaxy Note 7 will be able to handle a rough time, including the Symmetry Series, Commuter Series, and Defender Series as well as the Alpha Glass screen protectors. Each case design has undergone 24 tests and over 238 testing hours. The Symmetry Series consists of a single-piece case and comes with bright colors and graphics on its back. If you like it plain, a clear case is also offered. While it mainly protects the back of the device, the case will also provide some protection for the front of the display due to its beveled edge. As for the Commuter Series, it is a dual-layer case which will cover your Galaxy Note 7 on both sides, while still maintaining a slim profile. These cases will help protect your Galaxy Note 7 from bumps and shocks, and will also keep your device free of dirt such as pocket lint and grime.

The Defender Series is a rugged case aimed at “daily rugged defense,” but it also comes with a screen protector which is curved to protect the 5.7-inch display of the Galaxy Note 7 from scratches. The screen protector is made out of multiple layers which will provide long-lasting protection. The Alpha Glass screen protectors on the other hand are fortified, anti-shatter glass to protect the display while maintaining touchscreen sensitivity and iris scanning responsiveness. It will come in two variants, Clear or Privacy. At the moment, the Symmetry Series and Commuter Series are available on the OtterBox website for $49.95 and $44.95 respectively while the Defender Series and Alpha Glass screen protectors will be available soon.
