The Honor 8 is officially coming to the U.S. following an announcement today at the Honor press conference, which detailed the U.S. version of the phone as well as the information about the launch time frame. More specifically, the pricing and availability details for the Honor 8 in the U.S. have now been confirmed, and customers will see the device be made available through multiple online outlets. The Honor 8 will be sold unlocked and will be available purchase from various retailers such as Best Buy and B&H Photo, but the device will also be available from HiHonor.com as well as from Amazon, with pre-orders beginning tomorrow on Wednesday, August 17th. It is worth mentioning that the phone will only be available online, which means you won’t find it in Best Buy’s retail stores.
When it comes to the pricing, the Honor 8 will cost U.S. consumers $399 and will come with 32GB of internal storage space with the option to expand on the storage through means of a microSD card up to 128GB. The Honor 8 comes equipped with a 5.2-inch display with a Full HD resolution, and it’s powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 950 octa-core processor inside, paired with 3GB of RAM. For the cameras it’s sporting a 12MP dual-lens rear-facing camera sensor, while shifting things over to the front reveals the 8MP sensor for selfies and video chat. The phone will also be available in a 4GB RAM model which will have options for both 32GB and 64GB for the internal storage, with the 64GB model costing $449. Customers who pre-order will also earn a $50 gift card.
Inside the device has a 3,000 mAh battery to keep it powered on throughout the day, and it comes running on Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 which is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, so the software will be pretty much up to date. It also uses USB Type-C and supports NFC for the use of unlocking the device an authorizing mobile payments. Across the board, the Honor 8 U.S. model will have all of the same specs as the model released in China back in July, although since it is meant for the U.S. market it will officially and properly support the LTE signal for U.S.-based GSM networks such as T-Mobile and AT&T. Those who are interested in pre-ordering the Honor 8 will be available to do so starting tomorrow, with available color options including a Pearl White, Midnight Black, or Sapphire Blue.
