Report: OnePlus 3's Hotfix Update Seems To Be A Mixed Bag

The OnePlus 3 is one of the hottest devices around at the moment. This Chinese smartphone was introduced back in June, and it has been available for purchase for quite some time now, even though OnePlus had to halt sales in certain regions due to high demand, it seems like OnePlus undestimated interest for their new flagship. In any case, OnePlus had released a couple of updates since the device was announced, and the last OxygenOS 3.2.4 ‘hotfix’ update was released a couple of days ago, and users are not exactly happy with it, a it appears to be a mixed bag, read on.

According to reports, the 26MB update OnePlus had released recently did fix the auto-restart bug OnePlus 3 was plagued with, but unfortunately, it also created some additional issues for users, it seems. OnePlus’ official changelog says that this update brings ‘various fixes and carrier optimizations’, but while fixing some things, it breaks others. Some users have been complaining that this update breaks Android Pay, it simply prevents it from working. Now, there’s one more issue that has been mentioned, this update seems to have influenced mobile data connectivity on some devices, several users reported that their 4G LTE signal keeps dropping to 4G and even 2G rather quickly, though there’s a solution for this it seems. You can lock your phone to 4G LTE signal by typing *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer, and then opening ‘Phone Information’. While in that menu, choose ‘Preferred network type’ and select ‘LTE only’. In addition to all this, the update did not fix OnePlus 3 front facing camera’s autofocus issues it seems, and Doze seems to break notifications still, which is not something we’ve expected to see.

So, this update is a mixed bag, it fixes some issues, while it creates new ones, which is not something users have expected. We do hope that OnePlus will fix this soon, and knowing how fast they react to such reports lately, we’re confident they will. In any case, we’ll keep you updated on what is going on, we do hope OnePlus will release more info and a new update soon, stay tuned.
