Even though Huawei, OPPO and Vivo have managed to sell more devices than Xiaomi in Q2 2016 (in China), Xiaomi is still a force to be reckoned with, as far as the Chinese market is concerned at the very least. This company still has some aces up its sleeve, and it will be interesting to see whether they can catch up by the end of this year. Xiaomi had sold over 110 million Redmi-branded devices to date, and it seems like they’re planning not only to introduce the Mi Note 2 flagship phablet in the coming weeks, but also the Redmi 4 mid-ranger, read on.
The Redmi 3 was introduced back in January this year, and the Redmi 4 has been leaking out for a while now. The device has not only been listed on Geekbench earlier this month, but its specs, images and pricing leaked as well. That being said, the leaked images weren’t exactly the best quality, but today’s leak is different, it basically gives us a great look at both the Redmi 4’s front and back side. If you take a look at the images down below, you’ll notice that this handset is made out of metal, while it sports three capacitive buttons below the display. The fingerprint scanner is placed on its back, and the LED flash is located next to the camera. It is possible we’re looking at a dual LED, dual tone flash, but it’s really hard to tell from this distance. The device will sport quite a bit of black bars around the display, unfortunately, and it looks like more or less every other Redmi-branded handset Xiaomi had released in the last year or so.
Now, one of the images actually reveals some additional spec details, and if we add that to the aforementioned Geekbench listing, we can more or less figure out what specs will the Redmi 4 sport. This handset will ship with a 5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080), 2GB / 3GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB of expandable internal storage. The phone will be fueled by the 14nm Snapdragon 625 64-bit processor, while the Adreno 506 GPU will be in charge of graphics processing. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed here, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 OS which will be installed on top of Google’s operating system. 4G VoLTE connectivity and Bluetooth 4.2 will also be included here, just in case you were wondering.
