One of the most practical features that Samsung has started including on their newest flagships is IP68 water and dust resistance. You may remember T-Mobile’s underwater Galaxy S7 unboxing video, but with the Galaxy Note 7, the latest and greatest offering from Samsung, they’ve taken it a step further.
When T-Mobile makes an unboxing video, they do it right. And in this case, that means going to Wild Waves Waterpark. To make things even more exciting, the unboxing takes place while sliding down waterslides. The accessories included in the box, which end up getting tossed into the water and carried off in the waterslides, unfortunately, don’t share the same water resistant qualities as the phone itself, but interestingly enough, the S Pen stylus that comes with the device does. The video also highlights some of the other qualities of the phone, such as the camera (including low-light video shot from within a waterslide using the Galaxy Note 7) and HDR video playback. Throughout the video, the device gets considerably wet, but keeps going, and the S Pen is even able to write on the display when it has water on it.
The Galaxy Note 7 is the newest flagship handset from Samsung and will be available starting August 19, 2016, for $849, but preorders are already open. The device packs a 5.7 inch 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED with always-on capabilities, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage, the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor as the Galaxy S7, a 12 MP rear camera, and a 3500 mAh fast-charing battery that can be charged wirelessly, or with a reversible USB type-C charging cable. The physical design is similar to that of the Galaxy S7 Edge, though the curves on the edges of the screen are considerably steeper. The camera takes excellent photos, even in low light. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and will include a range of new features, including, for the first time on a smartphone, an iris scanner that can be used to as an alternative to other security methods. The T-Mobile variant will also feature advanced caller ID and spam blocking capabilities with Hiya dialer integration. With all of the included features this device will offer, it is shaping up to be one of this year’s hottest phones, and fortunately the wait for it is almost over.
