Earlier today, Samsung unveiled the new Galaxy Note 7 in New York, London and Rio de Janeiro. The device matched up pretty well to the rumors and the leaks that surfaced beforehand. Including the specs, which aren’t too surprising. The Galaxy Note 7 sports a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (Exynos 8890 in other regions) with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage inside. This is all powered by a 3500mAh battery which is non-removable. And there is a micro SD card slot included, for those that want to have the ability to expand their storage.
As expected, the Galaxy Note 7 is heading to all four of the US carriers. Including Verizon, who will be opening pre-orders tomorrow for the device. With it officially launching on August 19th. Verizon hasn’t announced pricing just yet, but that information should be available fairly soon – especially with pre-orders beginning tomorrow. Now, Verizon has decided to post a short unboxing video of the new Galaxy Note 7 over on YouTube. In the unboxing, they actually use the S Pen to do a quick little doodle before mentioning the other features of the device. Of course, the S Pen is a pretty important feature of the Galaxy Note lineup, in fact many might call it a “staple” feature.
The S Pen is actually waterproof this time around, as is the Galaxy Note 7. Which also means that the silo that the S Pen slides into is also waterproof. Which is a pretty big deal as well. Samsung has kept the fingerprint sensor here, which is located in the physical home button. But they did add an iris scanner this time around. So you’ll be able to authenticate yourself using your eye. Which early hands-on have shown that it’s not all that fast, but it is pretty accurate. And those with glasses may have a bit of trouble.
You can watch Verizon’s unboxing video down below. It’s a quick 90-second video, and it doesn’t show you a ton about the phone, but it does show everything you need to know. Which is always important. And if you’re looking to pre-order the Galaxy Note 7, it’ll be up for pre-order tomorrow morning.
