The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the company’s 2016 flagship smartphone. This handset was introduced back in February, and it has been available out in the market for quite some time now, though its availability is region specific, as Xiaomi is not exactly selling this device officially in Europe or the US. The Redmi 3X, on the other hand, is the company’s budget smartphone which was introduced back in June. This smartphone has been available for purchase in China more or less since it launched as well. That being said, both of these smartphones just got official price cuts, read on.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is now 200 Yuan ($30) more affordable than it was up until this point. The 3GB RAM + 32GB of storage variant now costs 1,799 Yuan ($270), while the 3GB RAM + 64GB model comes around at 2,099 Yuan ($315). Now, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro has also received a price cut, this smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage and now costs 2,499 Yuan ($375). The Redmi 3X, on the other hand, has been discounted to 799 Yuan ($120), which means Xiaomi shaved off 100 Yuan ($15) off of its price. Do keep in mind that these price cuts only apply to China, we don’t know if the company plans to offer similar discounts in India as well.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch fullHD display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB / 128GB of non-expandable native storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, and a 16-megapixel 4-axis OIS camera can be found on its back. The 3,000mAh battery is also included in this package, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes out of the box with the company’s Android-based MIUI OS. The Redmi 3X, on the other hand, features a 5-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 430 64-bit octa-core SoC, and comes with a rather large 4,100mAh battery. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed, while you’ll also find MIUI on top of it.
