ZTE Teases New AXON Handset, AXON 7 Mini Coming At IFA?

ZTE had introduced a rather powerful, and yet really affordable smartphone earlier this year, the AXON 7. That smartphone is the company’s current flagship, and it is available in a number of regions all over the world. The phone ships with the Snapdragon 820 SoC, QHD display, 4GB / 6GB of RAM, and despite all that, it costs only $399 (4GB RAM variant). That being said, the company’s ZTE AXON 7 Mini smartphone has been leaking for a while now, and the phone is actually already available in Europe, despite the fact ZTE did not announce it yet. Well, the official announcement will probably come during IFA in Berlin, and ZTE has just released a teaser for their IFA event, read on.

If you take a look at the provided image, you’ll get to see quite a bit of info actually. First and foremost, this teaser says that the event is going to occur in two days (September 2nd), which is something we already knew. Furthermore, the ‘#myAXON’ tag is present on the very bottom of this image, which suggests this will be an AXON-branded device, which points to the AXON 7 Mini, as that is the only AXON smartphone that we’ve noticed out there lately. Now, most sites are reporting that this teaser is touting a dual camera setup on the back of the device, but that might not be the case. The ZTE AXON 7 Mini that surfaced the other day sports only one camera on the back, and truth be told the image shared by ZTE (behind the number 2) looks more like a speaker than a dual camera setup. We’re only guessing here, but considering that ZTE AXON 7 has great audio capabilities (Dolby Atmos included), including two front-facing stereo speakers, well, this could be ZTE’s way of saying that such features are coming to the ZTE AXON 7 Mini as well.

So, what can we expect from the AXON 7 Mini except for great sound quality? Well, the device will probably look identical to the AXON 7, but will be smaller. This means that it will be made out of metal, and that it will sport a fingerprint scanner on the back, along with two front-facing speakers. The phone is expected to ship with the Snapdragon 617 SoC, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on this smartphone. In any case, ZTE will almost certainly announce this smartphone in two days, so stay tuned.
