ASUS released a number of ZenFone 3 models this year including the ASUS ZenFone 3, ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe and the ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra. Each model shares a certain family resemblance but also has its own strengths and features. To celebrate, the company has released a number of promotional videos with the latest two being embedded below. The first video is a general promotional video that covers a number of aspects. In the clip, a young man arrives at a house as though to collect something he might have forgotten. He explains to the camera that he is not a poet, musician, athlete, director, gamer nor does he have an ear for music… but he could be. He receives a call on an ASUS ZenFone 3 explaining that he won’t forget the towels, takes a photograph from the window, picks a hat and the clip closes. The point of the clip is presumably to highlight that the ASUS ZenFone 3 can cover all of these needs from music through photography, but without going into specifics.
The second YouTube clip concentrates on the photography muscle of the ZenFone 3 range, starting off by explaining that the human eye sees the world at 150fps. It goes into detail to explain that the ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Ultra use the Sony IMX318 sensor, a 23-megapixel unit complete with Deep Trench Isolation Technology, designed to improve photographic quality and something that other well known, premium manufacturers use with their own cameras. The clip highlights that the ZenFone 3 Deluxe has a six lens camera assembly complete with sapphire glass and elaborates on ASUS’ TriTech Auto Focus technology, which allows the camera to focus in just 0.03 seconds. This technology combines Phase Detection Auto Focus, Laser Auto Focus and Continuous Auto Focus. The ZenFone 3 range use a second generation Laser Auto Focus system for enhanced range whilst Continuous Auto Focus will refocus the camera onto a track object every frame whilst recording video. ASUS also explain that the ZenFone 3 comes complete with a four axis optical image stabilization system together with a three axis electronic image stabilization system, to ensure that customers’ videos and pictures are as smooth and sharp as possible. The ZenFone 3 series can also combine four photographs into one image, which can be over 90-megapixels in size, to enhance detail.
For night time photography, the ZenFone 3 has two tricks up its sleeve. One is the ability to combine four pixels into one in order to increase the sensitivity to light. This reduces the resolution of captured photographs but keeps them clear and sharp. It can also increase the exposure up to 32 seconds, which would require a tripod for best effect, but allows keen photographs to take pictures of the night sky or perhaps even road light trails at night.
