You Can Now Pre-Order Acer's Chromebook R 13

Acer’s Chromebook R 13 has just gone up for pre-order at a few different locations on the web. It should be noted that at the moment, the few places that seem to be carrying the Chromebook for pre-orders are charging more than the stated retail cost of $400, but not by much. Having said that, those who are interested in grabbing a Chromebook and are considering this model from Acer, it can be picked up from B&H Photo for around $429.99, or TigerDirect Business for $441.99. While still more than the $400 price tag that was announced by Acer during their unveiling of the Chromebook, PC Connection has the Chromebook R 13 for $405.48. Even though a couple of these prices seem high, the base price for this laptop was stated as $399, and the base model comes with 16GB. The ones listed for pre-order are the 32GB and 64GB options, with the best value being the model from B&H photo as they’re pre-order states that it’s for the 64GB storage model. This is contrast to the amount that TigerDirect is charging for the 32GB model, and although PC Connection is charging the least amount, you still only get 32GB of storage for that price, and for just $25 more you can double the space.

At the moment this particular Chromebook doesn’t seem to be available from places like Amazon or Best Buy, so those who do want the earliest ability to pre-order the laptop will need to pay the higher prices for it. There is also no mention of when other retailers will pick up the Chromebook R 13. Acer’s Chromebook R 13 comes powered by a MediaTek MT8173C processor, which carries four cores, and is paired with 4GB of RAM.

As the name suggests, Acer has outfitted the Chromebook R 13 with a 13.3-inch display that carries a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 which makes it Full HD, and it supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac as well as MIMO 2×2. For the ports, Acer has added one USB Type-C port, but it also has a USB 3.0 port and an HDMI out port. The battery on the inside is 4,670mAh and should last about up to 12 hours, although that mileage will vary depending on how you use it. While pre-orders are now live, there is still no exact date for the release of the Chromebook R 13, but it does begin shipping next month, so the official launch of it just around the corner.
