HTC Canada has stated that the new HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle and Desire 10 Pro would not be coming to the country – of course, things can always change. Only the flagship HTC 10 is available in Canada and the US. HTC said that they are focusing sales of the entry-level HTC 10 Desire to Global markets and not the US or Canada. Many times the low-end to midrange devices are targeted for the entry-level markets where price tags are low enough the citizens can afford them, although the lines between the models are starting to blur as processors and memory come down in price. If you live in Canada and are determined to pick up an HTC device, you can always get a good buy on the HTC 10. The price has been lowered to a respectable $799.
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle measures in at 156.9 x 76.9 x 7.7mm, weighs in at 155 grams, while the midrange HTC Desire 10 Pro measures in at 156.5 x 76 x 7.9mm, and weighs in at 165 grams – not much different from one another. The difference starts with the 5.5-inch display, with the Lifestyle using an HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 267 pixels-per-inch (PPI,) while the Pro model uses the FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 400 PPI. The devices also differ with their processor. The Desire 10 Lifestyle uses a Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with an Adreno 305 for graphics. The Desire 10 Pro uses a MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10. The Lifestyle uses 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable memory, and the Pro is packing 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable memory. Both models use a non-removable battery, and the Pro model offers rapid charge.
There is a marked difference in the camera area as well; The Lifestyle comes with a 13MP main camera with an aperture of f/2.2, 28MM lens, autofocus, and LED flash. It also sports a 5MP front-facing camera with a wider 34mm angle and f/2.8. The Pro model comes with a 20MP prime camera with an aperture of f/2.2, 28mm, laser autofocus, and a dual-tone flash. It is packing a large 13MP FFC, f/2.2, 28MM, and auto-HDR. The have some of the usual suspects – WiFi, Bluetooth (v4.1 on the Lifestyle and v4.2 on the Pro), GPS, and a microUSB v2.0 port for charging and data transfer. The Pro model also has NFC and a fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone and authorize mobile payments. The colors listed for both are Stone Black, Polar White, Royal Blue, and Valentine Lux. Hopefully, in the near future HTC will send these two devices to Canada.
