A name that used to be known as “that Chinese smartphone manufacturer” has now become the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the entire world, and it’s trying very hard to become a force not just in China, but in Europe as well as the United States. With the Nexus 6P, the brand appealed to diehard Android fans that were looking for a great new stock Android experience, and their own flagship, the P9, featured a similar design and Leica-certified imaging. During IFA 2016, the company had two new devices to show off, the Nova and the Nova Plus, as well as a new Android tablet. They also announced two new colors for the Huawei P9; red and blue.
When Huawei announced the P9 back in April, it was originally available in a number of different colors, namely Titanium Grey, Mystic Silver, Prestige Gold, Rose Gold and Haze Gold. Now, Huawei is offering users the choice of either Red or Blue. These don’t appear to have any sort of special naming to them, which is either a blessing or a curse, depending on your outlook. What doesn’t change here is what the phone itself is capable of and will still be the same 5.2-inch 1080p smartphone with two Leica-engineered cameras that take some pretty spectacular shots. Especially good for those that like to shoot in black and white at the time of taking a photo, as well as those that enjoy vibrant colors, the P9 offers one of the best camera experiences of 2016, as we found out in our full review.
Available throughout Europe readily, the P9 is a smartphone many will already be familiar with, and while it’s arguable that the Chinese manufacturer has their work cut out for them on the software front, they have some great hardware on offer. With no word on whether or not these will cost any extra than the original P9 color options, or if they will be available in all regions the P9 is sold, those looking for a colorful new handset will have to wait a little. They should be on sale before the end of the year, however.
