LeEco is likely not a company that many consumers outside of China know by name, but that could change thanks to LeEco’s acquisition of Vizio that was announced earlier this year, as Vizio is a pretty major TV brand in the US. When it comes to smartphones, LeEco is quite capable of competing with some of the major flagships, and it would seem as though consumers would agree on some level as the recently launched Le Pro 3, which went on sale in China just this morning, has apparently sold out in less than a minute, more specifically in 15 seconds from the moment the phones went live for purchase.
To put things into perspective, that’s a total of 500,000 smartphones all sold in less time than it takes to boil a small pot of water, which is quite fast. While 500,000 units had been purchased, there were many more consumers in the country that were looking to potentially get their hands on a Le Pro 3, as the report states that at least 3.5 million people had registered for LeEco’s flash sale where the phone was available to pick up from the LeEco website. While the LeEco Le Pro 3 is not being sold in the US, the cost of the device is equal to around $269 USD, as LeEco set the cost of the device at CNY 1,799.
While 500,000 phones is a lot of stock to roll through in just 15 seconds, with the amount of people that registered for a chance to buy the Le Pro 3 during the flash sale and considering that it comes with some pretty high-powered specifications, it becomes a little more clear as to why consumers were quick to snatch up what they could. The LeEco Le Pro 3 is the first device to come equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor, and it comes in two storage variants of 32GB or 64GB, with the 32GB offering 4GB of RAM while the 64GB model offers up 6GB of RAM. It also sports a fingerprint sensor on the back for authorizing mobile payments and unlocking the device, a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a 16MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. It also comes with USB Type-C for charging and data transfers, and of course it supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. All of that is quite the spread for the price that LeEco is asking.
