The largest PC manufacturer in the world, Lenovo, unveiled its Yoga Book convertible PC earlier this month at the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany. The device went on pre-order in the U.K. just last week at prices ranging from £429.99 ($560) for the Android version to £509.99 ($664) for the Windows 10 model. Now the Chinese tech company has started accepting pre-orders for the 2-in-1 convertible over in the U.S. as well. While the device has been listed on Lenovo’s official U.S. website at $499.99 for the Android version in Gunmetal Grey, Carbon Black and Champagne Gold, the Windows 10 variant comes with a $50 premium for what seems to be essentially the same hardware. Still, a price-tag of $549.99 doesn’t seem half bad for a device that’s fairly unique at this point in time. Lenovo says it will start shipping the devices from the 17th of October.
The Lenovo Yoga Book is the latest in a growing list of devices that come with the convertible form-factor which allows users to either use it as a regular laptop or as a tablet PC. The device features a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. It also comes with Capacitive Touch and AnyPen Technology. Instead of the standard physical keyboard, the Lenovo Yoga Book comes with a ‘Create Pad’, which happens to be a glass surface that can either be used as a regular keypad with an illuminated ‘Halo’ keyboard, or as a touch panel to take notes with the bundled ‘Real Pen’.
As for the internal hardware of the brand new offering from Lenovo, it is powered by a 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8550 processor and comes with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM along with 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded by way of a microSD card of up to 128GB in capacity. The device supports dual-channel Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac connectivity as well as Bluetooth v4.0 and carries a 2-cell 8,500mAh Lithium-Polymer battery. The Lenovo Yoga Book also comes with a G-Sensor, an ambient light sensor and a hall sensor. On the software side of things, the device will be available with two different operating systems as mentioned already. There’s a Windows version that will ship with Windows 10 Home, while the Android version will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed.
