LG has just made the V20 official. This is the successor to the LG V10 that was announced last year. What made the LG V10 so popular was the larger 5.7-inch display, but also that second-screen that was on the front. It was more of a ticker display, but LG says that their users loved the feature. And it’s back again on the LG V20. The company has noted that the second screen now supports longer signatures. So you are able to put whatever you want (within reason) up there.
When it comes to specifications for the LG V20, they are essentially what you would expect from a flagship in 2016. There’s a 5.7-inch Quad HD (that’s 2560×1440 resolution) with a PPI of 515. This is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor that is paired with the Adreno 530 GPU. There’s 4GB of RAM inside along with 64GB of storage. It also sports a 3200mAh battery which does also have Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The battery is still removable, but it’s not the same way that the LG G5 was, which means no modules for the LG V20 unfortunately. Camera-wise, the back-side houses a 16-megapixel sensor with OIS and an aperture of f/1.8, and an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/2.4. The front has a single camera, which is a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera with a f/1.9 aperture included. Of course, it is the first smartphone to be announced running on Android 7.0 Nougat, which Google just rolled out a couple of weeks ago.
As far as pricing and availability goes, LG hasn’t let any specifics of the device slip just yet. But it will be available in the US later this month. In addition to the four US carriers, it’ll also be available at Best Buy and B&H Photo. Pricing will likely be on par with what the LG G5 was earlier this year, perhaps a tad higher. Carriers are confirming their intent to carry the LG V20 right now, and they will likely post a pre-registration page fairly soon. There’s no doubt that the LG V20 will be one of the hotter devices to come out in the Fall, along with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and Google’s new “Pixel” smartphones that are being made by HTC.
