HTC did not exactly introduce a ton of smartphones in the last year or so, but we did see quite a few devices released by this Taiwan-based company. The HTC 10 is definitely the most powerful smartphone HTC had announced to date, as it is the company’s current flagship, and quite a compelling phone, as we were able to find out in our full review. The company did introduce a rather interesting phone about a year ago, called the HTC One A9, which should have represented a new, clean slate for the company. The HTC One A9’s sales did not exactly go according to HTC’s plans, and the company had to get back to the drawing board.
That being said, a year later, we get a successor to the HTC One A9, a device that has been leaking for a while now, the HTC One A9s. We’re looking at a mid-range smartphone here, a device which resembles its predecessor to some extent. As you’ll notice, the device is made out of metal, and the home button is placed below the display, while it also doubles as a fingerprint scanner. This phone features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) Super LCD display, along with 2GB / 3GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by MediaTek’s Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz, while a Mali-T860 MP2 GPU is in charge of graphics processing. The 13-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture) can be found on the back of this phone, and a 2,300mAh battery is included on the inside as well. The 5-megapixel selfie snapper is also a part of this package, while the device weighs 149.8 grams, and it is 7.99mm thick. HTC has also included Bluetooth 4.2 here, and 4G LTE (1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/20/28/38/40) as well.
Now, HTC did say that the One A9s will be available globally, though they did not elaborate further. We do know that the phone will be available in the US though, and that the availability details will be revealed in the coming weeks, as the phone hits various markets. We still do now know how much will the device cost, but it will hopefully be more affordable than its predecessor which was priced at $499 ($399 in the first month of availability).
