More MediaTek Helio X30 & X35 Flagship SoC Details Surface

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 / 821 and Samsung’s Exynos 8890 are the most powerful smartphone / mobile processors out there at the moment. A ton of smartphones are fueled by the Snapdragon 820, while a couple of Samsung’s devices ship with the Exynos 8890 SoC. Both of these are 64-bit processors, though the Snapdragon 820 ships with 4 cores, while the Exynos 8890 comes with an octa-core setup. That being said, MediaTek had also released two flagship processors for 2016, and they’re both quite compelling. The Helio X20 and Helio X25 are fueling quite a few smartphones out there, and the company had introduced the Helio X30 a couple of weeks ago. We’ve also seen some Helio X35 rumors in the past, but those rumors really did not share any specifics when it comes to MediaTek’s upcoming flagship processor. Well, a new leak has just surfaced, and it shares more info when it comes to both the Helio X30 and Helio X35, read on.

The Helio X30 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 10nm process, while its predecessor was manufactured using the 20nm process. The Helio X30 was supposed to be manufactured using the 16nm process, but the company has decided to take things a step further and use a 10nm process instead. This SoC is expected to enter mass production at the end of this year, or early next year, so we’re probably not going to see Helio X30-powered devices anytime soon. As far as the Helio X35 is concerned, it will be quite similar to the Helio X30, but it will offer higher clock speed, which is quite similar to what the Helio X20 and X25 are offering. These two chips (the Helio X30 and X35) will ship with 2 x Cortex A73 Artemis cores running at 2.8GHz, 4 x Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and 4 x Cortex A35 cores clocked at 2.0Ghz. Do keep in mind that the Helio X35’s clock speed will be somewhat higher per core. So, as you can see, these two processors will also utilize ten cores, just like their predecessors. The company is also planning to include a new GPU here, the Helio X30 and X35 will ship with the PowerVR 7XT quad-core GPU.

That is all the info we have at the moment, but we’re sure that the company will share more Helio X30 and X35 information in the coming weeks, as the release date for these two chips is coming closer. The Helio X30 will probably enter mass production by the end of this year, but chances are we won’t see Helio X30-powered devices out there until the end of Q1 2017, at least that’s our guess, but we’ll see.
