The Moto G4 Play is not necessarily a new smartphone, but it did just go up for pre-order last week over on Amazon. Where Amazon Prime members could grab it for as little as $99. That’s down from the original price of $149. Today, Verizon announced that the Moto G4 Play will be joining its prepaid line-up, and will be available for just $84.99. Undercutting even Amazon here. And since this is a prepaid smartphone, there is no contract. So you could leave at any time and keep your Moto G4 Play for that price.
For those that may be unaware of the Moto G4 Play’s specs, they include a 5-inch 720p HD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There is a micro SD card slot included, which supports Adoptable Storage. So you can pop in a 128GB micro SD card and have plenty of storage. There’s a removable 2800mAh battery inside, which will keep you going all day and then some (check out our review if you don’t believe us). There’s even a 8-megapixel sensor around back that does pretty well for taking pictures. All in all, it’s not a bad phone for the price. And if you are a prepaid customer on Verizon, this is a pretty tempting offering.
Verizon notes in their press release that all of their prepaid plans include unlimited talk and text with unlimited text to Mexico and Canada. For $30 per month you get no data, and just use WiFi. This is good for those that may work from home, or don’t use any data. For $45/month you can get 2GB of data. Finally, for $60/month you can get unlimited talk to Mexico and Canada and 5GB of data. This is all on top of the unlimited talk and text that each plan gets. Not bad plans, but of course there are other options available at other carriers. And where the Moto G4 Play does work with all four of the major US carriers, you can buy the device from Verizon and take it to Cricket, MetroPCS or even Boost Mobile without any hassle.
