Moto Z Lands in the UK for an Unlocked Price of £499

When Lenovo announced the Moto Z back at Lenovo Tech World in June, many were a bit upset with the fact that it would be an exclusive to Verizon for the summer. Lenovo did announced that it would be heading to other countries (and be available unlocked in the US) in September. And they just made good on that. Launching the Moto Z in the United Kingdom today for £499. While that is still a bit expensive (that’s around $670 USD), it is still quite a bit cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge right now. The Moto Z Force won’t be making its way over to the UK or anywhere else, unfortunately, as it is a US exclusive and exclusive to Verizon.

The Moto Z is a very thin smartphone, so thin in fact that it doesn’t have a headphone jack. It also sports some rather high-end specs. That includes a Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, it also has a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display on board. Which is one of the best displays around right now. Powering the Moto Z is a 2600mAh battery that is non-removable. Additionally, it is running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and should be getting Android 7.0 Nougat in the following months, although no eta has been mentioned by the company for when the update will be available.

Now, when it comes to the Moto Z, the specs aren’t the whole story. The Moto Z is the first smartphone to work with Moto Mods. Which are essentially modules that snap onto the back of the phone and extend the functionality. Currently, there are four Moto Mods available. These include a battery pack from Incipio, which adds an extra 2200mAh capacity to the smartphone, a JBL SoundBoost speaker, a Pico Projector and the newly announced Hasselblad True Zoom camera. These are all sold extra, however, and are not cheap. But they do easily snap onto the back of the Moto Z, Moto Z Force and the Moto Z Play. They don’t require a restart like some other smartphones do.

You can pre-order the Moto Z now in the UK. Currently, the estimated delivery date is set for September 13th, next Tuesday.
