Sony had kicked off their ‘Xperia X’ brand back in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Back then, the company had introduced the Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance smartphones. That being said, this Japan-based tech giant had opted to introduce two additional devices during IFA in Berlin earlier this month, the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact. The Xperia XZ can even be considered to be their new flagship, even though it’s quite similar to the Xperia X Performance in terms of specs, though it’s somewhat smaller thanks to a smaller display. The Xperia X Compact, on the other hand, is a relatively small Sony-branded handset which sports mid-range specifications.
Having that in mind, both of these devices will become available in the US soon. Now, those of you who are interested in getting either of the two new Xperia X devices will want to know that the two devices will not sport fingerprint scanners in the US, unlike their European counterparts. This is not a rumor or anything of the sort, the info was confirmed by Sony, well, Sony’s official US website, considering that these listings do not mention fingerprint scanners at all. Both of these devices sport fingerprint scanners in Europe, such sensors are built into the device’s power / lock buttons, and it seems like Sony decided not to use them in the US models. Now, as you might recall, the company’s previous devices (Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia X Performance) did not sport such sensors in the US either, so this was to be expected, at least to some extent. These two devices are already available for purchase in parts of Europe, and their availability will expand in the coming weeks, while they’re expected to hit the US soon, as we’ve already mentioned.
The Xperia XZ sports a 5.2-inch fullHD display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, and a 2,900mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package. The 23-megapixel camera can be found on the back of this smartphone, and a 13-megapixel snapper is placed on its front side. The Xperia X Compact, on the other hand, comes with a 4.6-inch 720p panel, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. The 23-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of this phone as well, and a 2,700mAh battery is included on the inside.
