OxygenOS Community Build v3.5.1 is now starting to hit OnePlus 3 devices, and although it is more incremental with just a handful of changes, little more than a week from the last OxygenOS update is a pretty quick turnaround and so any new changes at all are likely to make owners of the device happy. Having said that, if you own a OnePlus 3 and are moving up from Community Build 3.5 that was sent out back on August 24th, you’ll end up getting an OTA, while those who aren’t on Community Build 3.5 can can download the latest build now, complete with tweaks and improvements to the user interface, bug fixes, and other notable things that are worth at least considering the update for.
While general bug fixes are usually expected, they may not seem exciting. However, they are useful and they do help to improve the overall user experience with the phone. Beyond the general bug fixes, other changes that come along with this update include improvements to various OnePlus apps, meaning these should work better for you after the update is installed. Although there is likely more included, OnePlus does mention a few of these apps, which are the clock, the weather app, and the file manager app.
As mentioned above there are various UI improvements that are also included. The new community build brings along a brand-new accent color, and there is a new battery customization icon that you can choose. For those that enjoy customization, these two changes, however small they may be, should be welcomed additions to the UI. Luckily, for those that really like customization, there are other UI tweaks too, like the addition of Night Mode, as well as optimizations made to Dark Theme mode, and sRGB Mode which can be found under the display settings/screen mode. Lastly, the build also includes LED customization to give just a little bit more choice when it comes to the LED light for things like notifications. Aside from things that have either been added in or fixed, there are also some things that don’t work just yet, like Android Pay and the System UI Tuner. OnePlus also notes that “several” OnePlus apps only support English. If you’re looking to update to this version of the community build, OnePlus has the link provided over at the forum.
