Sony has introduced two new members of the company’s ‘Xperia X’ line today, the Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ. These two smartphones have joined the likes of Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia X Performance and the Xperia XA Ultra. We’ve already covered the main announcement of these two devices, and have talked about Xperia X Compact’s specifications. Well, it’s time to take a closer look at the spec sheet of the Xperia XZ, read on.
The Sony Xperia XZ is essentially the smaller variant of the Xperia X Performance, this smartphone, much like the Xperia X Performance, comes with the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor by Qualcomm, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics rendering. The phone sports a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) TRILUMINOS display with Sony’s X-Reality engine, while the Dynamic Contrast Enhancement is also included here. The phone packs in 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage (eMMC). The 23-megapixel camera (1/2.3” Exmor RS sensor, 24mm wide-angle lens, 5x Clear Image zoom, ISO12800) is placed on the back of this smartphone, while BIONZ engine for mobile image processing is also included here. Sony’s SteadyShot feature with Intelligent Active Mode comes with this device as well, along with the 5-axis stabilization for better image capturing. On the front side of the Xperia XZ lies a 13-megapixel snapper (1/3.06” Exmor RS sensor, 22mm wide-angle lens, ISO6400, f/2.0 aperture), and it’s worth noting this is a single SIM smartphone (Nano SIM).
The 2,900mAh battery is also a part of the Xperia XZ package, and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging is included as well. The Xperia XZ also comes with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, while the Type-C USB port is placed on the bottom of this smartphone. This phone comes with high-resolution audio, LDAC codec, digital noise canceling and Clear Audio+. Those of you who need stereo recording, you’ll get it with this smartphone as well. NFC is also included here, and so is Bluetooth 4.2. The Sony Xperia XZ measures 146 x 72 x 8.1mm, while it weighs 161 grams. The device will be available in Forest Blue, Mineral Black and Platinum color options, while you’ll be able to purchase the Xperia XZ starting from October 23rd, and its price will vary, depending on region and carriers.
