If you’re planning to spend in upwards of $800 or so on a brand new flagship phone this Fall, you’ve got quite a few great options to choose from. Will you decide on one of the phones that launched in the Spring and have received a few updates for stability and bug fixes, or will you lean more toward bleeding edge, cream of the crop tech? The V20 is certainly part of the latter class of phones and is the very first phone ever to launch with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed. That means no waiting for the latest version of Android, and on top of that it seems that LG will in fact beat Google to market with the first Nougat powered device.
LG isn’t just relying on having the latest version of Android to sell its phone though, as the V20 is packed with plenty of specs you simply won’t find elsewhere. Featuring a military grade construction that’s drop test rated, just as its predecessor the V10 was, the LG V20 is a rugged phone that still features top of the line specs and performance. Just as we’ve seen from other phones that have launched recently, the V20 is powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with microSD card support. The display on the front is a Quad-HD 5.7-inch IPS LCD panel with Quantum Dot technology, and above it sits a smaller secondary display that’s used for a number of different things including notifications and quick shortcuts.
Even the cameras are top notch on the LG V20, and as a phone that sports both a 16-megapixel and an 8-megapixel sensor on the back, you know there’s some serious creative potential to be unlocked during use. The biggest problem right now? We still don’t know exactly when the LG V20 will be available or precisely how much it will cost. It’s definitely heading to all US carriers and will even support some new wireless bands that no other phone on the market supports quite yet, but it’s tough to make a decision regarding a phone without these key features. Find out what we thought of the rest of the phone and how it fares against other flagships this fall in the video below!
