Xiaomi Mi 5s – 3 Million Registrations In Less Than 24 Hours

The Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus were introduced less than 24 hours ago (at the time of writing this article). These two handsets are the company’s new flagship offerings, the Xiaomi Mi 5s is a successor to the Xiaomi Mi 5, while the Mi 5s Plus is a somewhat larger, and a bit more powerful device. Xiaomi had introduced these two handsets with some interesting features, both of them sport an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and a pressure sensitive display, while they’re fueled by the latest and greatest SoC Qualcomm has to offer, the Snapdragon 821.

That being said, we’ve talked about the Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus at length already, and considering the price point of these two devices, we presumed that consumers in China will be more than interested to purchase Xiaomi’s new offerings. Well, it turns out our presumption was spot on, as a ton of people have already registered for the Xiaomi Mi 5s / Mi 5s Plus sale. As already mentioned, the company had introduced these two handsets in less than 24 hours, and over 3 million people registered for the first sale in China. Needless to say, these are great numbers for the company. The Xiaomi Mi 5s comes in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants, and costs 1,999 Yuan ($300) and 2,299 Yuan ($345) in China, respectively. The 4GB and 6GB RAM Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus models, on the other hand, are priced at 2,299 Yuan ($345) and 2,599 Yuan ($390), respectively.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s comes with a 5.15-inch fullHD display, while its sibling sports a larger, 5.7-inch 1080p panel. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core fuels these two smartphones, and both devices are made out of metal. The Xiaomi Mi 5s sports a single 12-megapixel camera on the back, while the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus features two 13-megapixel snappers on its back. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on both the Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus, while you also get Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 OS on top of Google’s operating system.
