Acer Announces New Chromebook 15 for $199

Acer has just announced a brand-new Chromebook model for the market, listed with the model number CB3-532-C47C. Officially this is Acer’s new Chromebook 15 and their latest Chromebook offering to date. On top of being a new model up for grabs in what is already an impressive lineup of Chromebook offerings from the company, Acer has priced the new Chromebook 15 at $199 which sets in the lower end of the cost pool when compared to other Chromebooks, such as Acer’s own Chromebook R 13 costs double, and gives it a great value considering the size of the display and the other comparable specs which are on par with other Chromebook models.

When it comes to official specifications and hardware, Acer has fitted the Chromebook 15 with a 15.6-inch display which comes packing an HD resolution of 1366 x 768. The display is also widescreen and backlit, and features ComfyView technology which is meant to help minimize the amount of glare on the display you get from surrounding light sources. The Chromebook 15 is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060 dual-core processor which is capable of clocking at a maximum of 2.48GHz thanks to the Intel Burst Technology. The Intel CPU is paired with an Intel HD Graphics 400 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR3 SDRAM and 16GB of internal storage space, although if 16GB is not enough the Chromebook 15 does also support expandable storage thanks to the built-in card reader on the side. It also comes with 100GB of Google Drive storage for two years to keep stuff stored in the Cloud if need be.

Like all Chromebooks, the Chromebook 15 features an HD webcam that enables video chat, and it supports Bluetooth 4.2 as well as Wi-Fi 802.11ac for connectivity. With a 15.6-inch display you would expect the Chromebook 15 to be fairly heavy, but it only weighs in at around 4.3 Lbs. making it decently light and portable. The ports for the Chromebook 15 are fairly standard, as it features one HDMI out port, two USB 3.0 ports, an AC adapter port and a 3.5mm audio port for plugging in headphones, as well as the digital media reader on the side. It also has dual built-in stereo speakers for sound, and with the 3,950mAh battery it carries up to 12 hours of battery life which is more than enough to last most consumers. The Acer Chromebook 15 does come in at a fairly attractive price of under $200, and those who are interested in picking one up will be able to do so at Walmart where Acer states the laptop will be sold.
