If you’re in a market for a flagship smartphone but you’re not looking to spend a whole lot of money, the OnePlus 3 might be just the device for you. This smartphone costs only $399 and it comes with a metal body, a fullHD AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 820 SoC. This handset has been in high demand ever since OnePlus started selling it earlier this year, and according to the newly-leaked information we might see another OnePlus-branded smartphone released this year, a more powerful variant of the OnePlus 3, read on.
The OnePlus 3 Mini surfaced on GFXBench back in August, and quite a few people thought that OnePlus plans to introduce a smaller variant of their flagship. Well, the company’s CEO, Carl Pei, denied such rumors soon after the phone surfaced, and said that the company is committed to the OnePlus 3, and that they don’t have any plans to release a smaller variant of it. Well, a new rumor just surfaced in China, and it comes from a Chinese analyst, Pan Jiutang. According to the analyst, the company might release the OnePlus 3 Plus really soon, and even though he did not release a spec sheet for this smartphone, it is possible OnePlus plans to include a QHD display in this smartphone, a larger battery pack, and quite possibly the Snapdragon 821 to along with all that.
Now, this is not the only OnePlus 3 report that arrived, another one has surfaced. According to an unnamed source from OnePlus’ supply chain, OnePlus might actually stop manufacturing the OnePlus 3 altogether in order to make way for a new model, OnePlus 3S or OnePlus 3 Plus. Now, this piece of info also mentions the Snapdragon 821 SoC, but also adds that the OnePlus 3 Plus might ship with an LCD panel, instead of the AMOLED one. It seems like the shortage of AMOLED panels is one of the main reasons OnePlus is having issues keeping up with the demand for the OnePlus 3. Now, do keep in mind that Carl Pei said that OnePlus is focusing on one smartphone this year, so it is possible that these reports are false, we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
