Android Wear's Fall Watch Faces Bring Fresh Design

Back at the end of August, Google partnered up with Paper Magazine to announce that they were going to be crowdsourcing new watch faces for the Android Wear platform, and that they would be holding a contest with some pretty awesome rewards for the grand prize winner. Paper Magazine and Google have to come together again now that the contest is over and they have picked a winner, which will have their design created and made available to Android Wear watch owners. The grand prize winner is Andrea Gaita, who scored an all expenses paid trip to Paris Fashion Week, while also receiving some pretty neat gifts like a personal Android Wear smartwatch, among other things. In addition to announcing the grand prize winner of the design competition, Paper Magazine has also shown off the other winning designs that will be part of the Fall collection of Android Wear watch faces, which are all available right now.

The winning design from the contest can be seen in the gallery of images below, and is the first photo in the mix, which is joined by the four additional watch face designs that Android Wear smartwatch owners can install onto their devices. These new watch faces are Textile, Vertigo, Daylight, Flamingo, and Keyaki, each having their own uniqueness and style to them.

Daylight, which is Gaita’s design, appears to shift colors and visuals as the day goes on. For example, when it’s earlier in the day, you might see the sun with a cloud and a blue backdrop that is meant to imitate a blue sky, and when it starts to get darker and the sun is going down, you might instead see a backdrop that is more representative of the way the sky looks as dusk. No doubt this shifting design style is what helped push Gaita’s design to the front of the pack. All five winning watch face deigns from the contest can be picked up for free in a downloadable app which is already live on the Play Store, called Fall Fashion Watch Faces, and you can grab it from the button below.
