Earlier today, Bethesda started rolling out Fallout Shelter content update 1.8 which adds quite a bit of new stuff to an already content-packed game. Themes are the central theme of this update. Confused? It’s actually rather simple – Fallout Shelter developers are now allowing players to craft room themes inspired by major factions from the latest installment of the popular post-apocalyptic franchise. Of course, we’re talking about Fallout 4. So, if you ever wanted to run a vault that looks like it belongs to the Brotherhood of Stell, the Institute, or the Railroad, now’s the time to reinstall Fallout Shelter again.
The new theme mechanic can be utilized by building the Theme Workshop which is now available in the Fallout Shelter building menu. After you’ve done constructing it, you’ll be able to remodel your entire vault in order for it to fit your allegiance better. The current version of the game supports themes based on four main factions in Fallout 4, the aforementioned three and the Minutemen. Note that you’ll have to demonstrate some loyalty to your faction of choice before you get to paint its logo on your walls. Of course, you’ll do that by completing faction-specific quests which will award you with crafting recipes for themes. Fortunately enough, if you ever get tired of a single paint job, you can always just complete another quest and change between your available themes in just a few taps.
Speaking of quests, the new update also adds several special holiday quests which aren’t yet available in the game. The first quest will launch this month on Halloween, followed by a Thanksgiving one. Naturally, we’ll get another unique quest on Christmas morning, as well. Just like last year, the latest set of holiday quests rewards players with unique outfits for their vault dwellers. As for the upcoming Halloween event, Bethesda has also promised us a unique room theme “available for a limited time,” though it remains unclear whether we’ll get to use it for a limited time or win it in a certain time frame and then use it whenever. Regardless of that, it’s nice to see that Bethesda is continuing with the practice of regular major content updates seeing how it was less than six weeks ago that update 1.7 hit the Play Store.
