After months of waiting, as well as a very brief and limited experience with Google Assistant through Allo, Google’s most recent chat application, the Google Assistant-powered Google Home speaker was officially launched today at Google’s event where they unveiled a number of new products including the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, Google Wi-Fi, and the new Chromecast Ultra which features 4K content support. If you’re one of the many consumers who was likely excited about the prospect of having Google’s new smart speaker in your house to power anything from smart lights to your Nest thermostat, then you’ll be happy to know that alongside Google’s unveiled pricing for the Google Home speaker, they have also confirmed the availability details for the US, which begins from today set at a price of $129 when you pre-order the device, and it will be shipping on November 4th.
Of course knowing the price and when you can buy one makes no difference if you don’t have any idea where you can purchase the product. As expected, Google Home will be available in the US from today where it can be picked up from the Google Store alongside all of Google’s other products.
At the moment there are no other listed retailers for Google Home here in the US so those who are interested in picking it up will be looking at pre-ordering (and buying once available) directly from Google only. With pre-orders being live today, the Google Store lists that Google Home units will ship out in 4-5 weeks, which is about the time of the November 4th date that was mentioned above. In addition to the Google Home units, those who order the device can also choose to customize their Google Home speaker with a little bit of color by ordering an extra base, which in total includes six different colors. There will be three metal colors that include Carbon, Copper, and Snow, as well as three Fabric colors of Mango, Marine, and Violet. The different Google Home bases aren’t yet available for pre-order, but they will start from $20 once they’re ready, with $20 likely being the cost of the fabric bases.
