Google Releases New October 4 Pixel-Themed Snapchat Filter

Today is Monday and that does inevitably mean that tomorrow is Tuesday. However, this particular upcoming Tuesday is a little different to most others, as it is October 4. To anyone interesting in Google, Android or tech in general, that means it is the day that Google is hosting (what is turning out to be) a fairly big event. The scale of the event has been neatly demonstrated over the last few weeks by what seems to be a much larger than usual marketing effort by Google ahead of time. One which is still ongoing as it seems Google has now released a Snapchat filter to further highlight the upcoming event.

The filter, shown above and below, does not give too much away in terms of details on what will be unveiled or announced during the event, but it does clearly seemed to be aimed at tomorrow’s event. The big giveaway is the G logo image which can be applied as part of the filter. This is the G image which has largely come to be understood as part of the design of the new Pixel Launcher. Which in turn, is expected to be released as the slightly skinned version of Android 7.0 (Nougat) on the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. In addition, the filter also seems to come with wording which reads, “Best thing about Monday?” followed underneath by an underlined “Tuesday”. At the moment, it is unclear as to how wide the availability of the Snapchat filter actually is and whether it is available to everyone, but it is showing up for us. Although you may have different results depending on your location and so on.

As for the actual event, this is expected to be a fairly big event. In addition to the official unveiling of the Pixel and the Pixel XL, it is also expected that announcements will be made on a ton of additional Google-related content including the likes of Google’s vision for VR – Daydream, Google Home (the company’s new connected speaker), Google Wifi (a rumored new router), Andromeda OS (a new hybrid operating system, a 4K-enabled Chromecast, and much more.
