Xiaomi had announced three new devices during their press conference earlier today, and the Xiaomi Mi MIX is definitely the most innovative one of the three. The Mi Note 2 was the most anticipated device of today’s announcement, and the Mi VR headset is a nice little surprise, but the Mi MIX managed to surprise us all. This is Xiaomi’s ‘concept’ smartphone, though that naming doesn’t really apply here considering the fact that you can already sign up for the sale of this smartphone if you live in China. The Xiaomi Mi MIX is, much like the Mi Note 2, a flagship phablet, and it sports top of the line specs, along with a sleek design.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX is made out of ceramic, and as you can see, its design is its main feature, basically. This ‘phone’ sports a 6.4-inch display, but it has a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio, which makes it considerably smaller than other 6.4-inch devices out there. The phone basically has no bezel above the display, nor on its sides, only below that 6.4-inch panel. Speaking of which, this is display sports a 2040 x 1080 resolution, and comes with a 17:9 aspect ratio. If you’d like to take a closer look at the design of this phablet, check out the gallery down below, as one of our editors is currently in China and he managed to get some hands-on time with the Xiaomi Mi MIX for all of us to check out.
In addition to what we’ve already mentioned, the Mi MIX comes with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of native storage. This phablet is, much like the Mi Note 2, fueled by the Snapdragon 821 SoC, which is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor at the moment. The 16-megapixel shooter is included on the back of the Mi MIX, and a 5-megapixel camera can be found on its front side. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes out of the box here, and Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 OS is installed on top of Google’s offering. The 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM Mi MIX models are priced at 3,499 Yuan ($516) and 3,999 Yuan ($590) in China, just in case you live over there and are looking to purchase one of the two.
