Huawei aspires to become the top smartphone manufacturer in the world one day, beating the likes of Samsung and Apple. At the moment, Huawei is the top smartphone manufacturer in China, and also the most popular one in the country. At the launch event of its Huawei Nova smartphone in China today, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer announced that it shipped 100 million smartphones this year so far. The launch event was more of a celebratory event to announce its milestone, rather than a press event.
Last year, the company managed to ship 100 million devices throughout the entire year, but today, the company has already surpassed this figure, and the year is yet to come to a close. Huawei still has 2 more months before the financial year comes to an end to further increase the current figure. It is possible for the company to sell many more devices before the end of 2016 as it is still has an upcoming event to launch the Huawei Mate 9, which is set to place on November 3. Also, the company has recently launched a trio of smartphones in India, including the Honor 8. As India is one of the top smartphone markets in the world, Huawei will probably be able to sell many of its smartphones there.
Just last month, Huawei revealed that it had shipped more than 6 million Huawei P9 smartphones since the release of the device globally. It was also revealed then that a total of 1.5 million Honor 8 smartphones were shipped throughout the world since its launch, but that number is likely to be much higher now, since the company launched the device in the US and Europe after making that announcement. Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei and its devices are sold exclusively online. However, devices produced by Honor are known to pack pretty powerful internals, and sell for quite a low price, compared to other brands. The Huawei P9 on the other hand, is Huawei’s premium flagship smartphone of 2016 and it is best known for the camera module on the back which was co-engineered with Leica and it also happens to be a dual camera setup.
