Huawei is expected to announce their latest flagship smartphone at an event in Munich, Germany on November 3rd. That’s just a few weeks away, and the rumor mill has started running into overtime with leaks and rumors of the upcoming device. We’ve already seen a good number of leaked renders of the device, including two distinctly different smartphones. Now we have yet another one from Evleaks, and this one appears in a color we haven’t seen just yet. This is what appears to be a purple color, a color we haven’t seen on a smartphone in quite some time.
Now the device looks pretty similar to other Huawei smartphones. It is sporting a dual-camera setup on the back, which is rumored to be a 20-megapixel shooter and a 12-megapixel shooter, instead of two 12-megapixel sensors. However it is not vertical instead of a horizontal setup, which we saw on the Huawei P9 and the Honor 8. To the left of the camera setup, you see the dual flash setup, and the right has what appears to be laser auto-focus and perhaps a few other sensors to help make the camera even better. Below that, we see the fingerprint sensor. Which is in the same position that every Huawei smartphone has had it in. The front is pretty plain, although the side bezels appear to be all but gone. There’s no physical buttons here which likely means that they will be sticking with on-screen buttons, as they have in the past. Volume and power are on the right-hand side. With the speaker and USB-C port at the bottom. And, we do have to mention this now, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top of the device.
All in all, this Huawei Mate 9 looks pretty nice. Even though it does have a few traits of the iPhone included, it does still look very much like a Huawei device. Of course, we’ll learn loads more about this new device come November 3rd when Huawei officially unveils the device in Germany. But as for now, it appears to be a high-end device with a 5.9-inch 1080p display, Kirin 960 processor, 4GB or 6GB of RAM and storage up to 256GB.
