In the world of Android devices, Samsung has long held the spot as the top manufacturer, but over the years their marketshare has been decreasing little by little and others have stepped up to take over some of those customers. LeEco appears to be one of those manufacturers as Strategy Analytics notes that the company is an “emerging threat to Samsung and others.” LeEco, which is primarily a Chinese brand when it comes to smartphones, is actually a fairly large consumer electronics company offering more than just mobile devices, and is posed to enter the US market with ferocity in the near future. At the current time, they’re also touted as the major smartphone vendor to have the fastest global growth, which is nothing if not an impressive accomplishment.
LeEco’s U.S. presences comes to head with tomorrow’s event, which is slated to hold an unveiling for various products which include smartphones and TVs, all of which seem to have been inadvertently leaked prior to the actual announcement. In total there are actually two smartphones being announced, as well as four Android TV-powered TV sets. Through the combination of these device types and along with their other services, LeEco’s aim is to become a media empire, and offering up a mix of smart connected handsets paired with Smart TVs just might help them do that especially in a large market like the U.S. which already has a hefty appetite for media consumption.
In addition to entering the U.S. market with a range of handsets and TVs tomorrow, LeEco already has large scale plans it seems for its HQ in Silicon Valley, where it will reportedly house 12,000 employees. Tomorrow’s event follows an earlier event held by LeEco back in the Summer where it announced its acquisition of Vizio, a popular brand of TV and home entertainment equipment that has already established a foothold in the U.S. market, which was no doubt part of its strategy to bring their products to the country. All of LeEco’s praise couldn’t come at a better time, too, as Samsung’s falter with the Galaxy Note 7 leaves the door open for other manufacturers to scoop up customers, many of which have stated that they refuse to buy another Samsung phone in the future. This puts LeEco in a great position for the launch of their two new phones, and may just help them enter the U.S. with good footing in the mobile space.
