LG’s iconic V10 marked a huge departure from their current lineup. While the V20 sticks a bit closer to the aesthetic of the G5, the phone’s extra features and odd, yet stylish build put it at odds with the modular G5, rather than above it, despite the fact that the LG V20 is the first phone to launch in the US carrying Android 7.0 (Nougat). The phone is just starting to make its way out to US carriers, and Sprint has now come forward to announce that users will be able to pick one up from them starting from October 28 with pre-orders commencing October 21.
To sweeten the deal, Sprint is throwing in a few extras for those who jump on the phone in a timely fashion. “For a limited time”, which Sprint did not expand on, users that trade-in their qualifying phone will get $200 in bill credits, as well as a free pair of Bang & Olufsen H3 headphones when they buy an LG V20. The headphones on offer fall squarely into the upper mid-range, and currently retail for $149.99. On Sprint’s network, the LG V20 is compatible with LTE Plus, which means that users will find coverage in a large number of places that would normally be deadzones, and speeds can reach up to 200 megabits per second.
The LG V20 itself sports dual cameras, Hi-Fi recording and playback for both video and sound, and a number of camera tweaks to make things highly stable and defined. The screen is a 5.7-inch affair set at a resolution of 1,440 by 2,560. The iconic secondary screen from the LG V10 is back, of course, and can be turned off, if a user so wishes. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 runs the show, paired up with 4GB of RAM, all running on Android 7.0 (Nougat), making it the first phone to have the new Android version out of the gate, since the Pixels haven’t launched yet. The whole thing is kept alive by a removable 3,200 mAh battery, letting users replace it on the fly, should Quick Charge 3.0 prove to not be enough. As mentioned, the LG V20 will be available from Sprint come October 28.
