While U.S. pre-orders for the Moto Z Play went live on Amazon nearly a month ago, as well as in Canada back in the first week of October, customers have been unable to customize their Moto Z Play devices in the way that they might be used to with past Moto phones, as this sort of function is handled by Moto Maker. As of today, pre-orders for the Moto Z Play are now live and available on the Moto Maker website meaning users can customize their device with various different personalized touches to make the phone their own before they have the order placed and wait for the device to arrive on their doorstep.
The Moto Z Play on the Moto Maker website will cost the same amount as it does on Amazon – $449.99, although the entire purchase price does have the potential to rise above that cost considerably if Moto Mods are added, which is one of the steps in the process before checking out and placing your order. The phone can also be pre-ordered in the GSM Unlocked version as well as the Verizon exclusive version which is the Moto Z Play Droid model.
While those who may have wanted the Moto Z Play as early as possible may have already paid for the device through Amazon, if you wanted the chance to give the device a little bit of customization now is your opportunity, although it’ worth noting that the only real customization you can do is choose which mods, if any, you want thrown in with the purchase of the phone. The Moto Mod options include all of the currently announced accessories, which includes the Hasselblad TrueZoom camera mod, the swappable backs and more, and you can choose to get the phone with or without a T-Mobile or AT&T SIM if you’re getting the unlocked GSM model, which will set you back an additional $5. While you can pre-order your device today, you will still have to wait a little bit before the phone shows up. However, that won’t be long as the site states that devices will begin shipping out to customers on October 26th, which is just next week. If you don’t care to place the pre-order for the Moto Z Play at the full retail cost, there’s also a Moto Credit option to break the phone up into monthly payments that can be as low as $18.83 until the phone is paid off.
