Plantronics Announces BackBeat Pro 2 Wireless Headphones

The US consumer electronics manufacturer Plantronics has a well-earned reputation of providing affordable yet quality audio gear. Luckily, that notion is just further reinforced by BackBeat Pro 2, a new pair of wireless headphones which the company just announced earlier today. When you think about headphones sporting a $199.99 price tag, you probably don’t imagine an accessory boasting excellent sound quality, on-demand active noise cancellation capabilities, 330-feet Bluetooth range, and 24 hours of battery life. However, that’s exactly what Plantronics is offering with BackBeat Pro 2.

Like the name suggests, this is an updated version of the original BackBeat Pro which launched back in 2014. In comparison to that pair of headphones, BackBeat Pro 2 looks like a simplified product but don’t let the functional design fool you – this is an extremely capable gadget and it’s not like its predecessor was much of a looker, either. The US audio equipment manufacturer stated that BackBeat Pro 2 puts a higher emphasis on bass than the previous version but notes that crisp and clear sound was still the primary focus of the design team. In addition to all of the aforementioned features, BackBeat Pro 2 also supports an open listening mode which is convenient in situations in which you want to listen to music but can’t afford to zone out and not be aware of sounds from your environment. The headphones are also equipped with a pair of sensors which detect whether you’re currently using BackBeat Pro 2 or not and pause and resume music accordingly. Last but not least, this creation also supports whispered battery status alerts and multipoint technology which allows you to simultaneously connect to several devices so that you can seamlessly switch from using BackBeat Pro 2 with your TV to using it with your smartphone, tablet, smart speaker, or TV.

All in all, this definitely doesn’t seem like a mid-range pair of headphones but it’s definitely priced as such. If you’re interested in even more premium user experience, there’s a special edition of BackBeat Pro 2 which is priced at $249.99 and boasts NFC support in addition to all of the aforementioned audio goodies. Both versions are available for purchase from Plantronics and Amazon as of today.
