Now that Samsung has ended production of the Galaxy Note 7, it’s no surprise that the company is trying to switch consumer attention over to its other devices and forget about the two recalls. As part of their efforts, the company has also been teasing the release of some new devices, among them the newly announced Galaxy On Nxt, which was made official today in India.
As can be seen when looking at the South Korean company’s latest smartphone, it’s clear that they haven’t taken any risks in terms of design, with the traditional Samsung front panel, along with the typical metallic accents and decently small bezels either side of the 2.5D glass display. Around the back, Samsung has once again kept it simple by placing only the camera and flash towards the top – both of which seem to be flush against the panel, with no camera bump in sight – and the company’s logo towards the middle of the rear of the device. The smartphone is 8 mm thick and weighs in at a respectable 167 grams.
Moving on to specs, Samsung has equipped the device with a large 5.5-inch display which features a 1080 x 1920 resolution. Taking a closer look at what is on offer inside and the Galaxy On Nxt is powered by Samsung’s own octa-core Exynos 7870 processor (clocked at 1.6 GHz), and this itself is coupled with the Mali-T830MP2 GPU and a generous 3GB of RAM. As well as this, the device comes with 32GB of internal storage, though this can be expanded via a microSD card as and when needed. Moving on to the cameras and Samsung has equipped this device with a 13-megapixel camera on the rear (which is coupled with an LED flash), along with an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Other specs include support for 4G LTE and dual-SIM, a fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth, NFC and a relatively large 3,300 mAh battery.
Regarding the pricing and availability, the Galaxy On Nxt is now available in black, gold and pink from Flipkart in India for the equivalent of $275. As of now, it is unclear as to whether the company has any plans to release the device elsewhere.
